- #200 [user_aaron], 16-03-22 21:48最近部 Khozmo 轉動時有si le si la 聲,拆來看過又清潔過 contact位都無效,請問各位師兄有冇計呢?
- #199 [albertmoto], 14-05-27 21:30Promitheus TVC preamp, really not bad!!
- #197 [BenYC], 14-02-18 17:29Alps blue velvet 10k attenuator - $70-80
4 rca plugs - maybe $10-15 each
Some cheap wires and you can start the project....
BTW, 1 like alps basic blue ones. :) - #196 [MOSbill], 14-02-18 16:27any passive pre amp below 1.5k (HKD) recommend ? tks
- #195 [Derek2A3], 14-02-14 14:13Actually, I use passive and active to adjust perspective.

Interesting to know. Never thought of it. But I did come across friends who employed two active preamps in their system & use them like an EQ for different recordings. - #194 [BenYC], 14-02-14 14:00No la, I am still a learner.

We are all learners. You are the advanced type. I am the "Dont know what I am doing type.. yiu.. kau kei la" type. - #193 [BenYC], 14-02-14 13:56Yes, in a certain way this is true, cause it all depends on the setup. But if you have a balanced source & balanced power amp, then a balanced passive preamp will surely have the upper hand.

Actually, I use passive and active to adjust perspective. Some records are too upfront and cause discomfort. I can turn down passive and turn up volume to push the performance back a bit, vice versa. This is more a compromising approach with no purist mindset at work. In some way, I use this combo like a eq but to control dynamics.

Yes, it is active.

I believe passive is a must but active is also a must...

Ooops, we side tracked a bit. Derek is a DIY guru. He was just helping me on my transformer question and we chatted a bit. His active DIY pres are nice and he experiments a lot.
For me, I used passive all along but together with active pre. Thus, I am actually not too sure if I should belong here. I believe passive is a must but active is also a must... @_@

- #188 [Derek2A3], 14-02-13 13:26Right now I am using a different preamp, a one stage tube + trans output. Any time you are free, just drop by for an audition.
- #187 [BenYC], 14-02-13 11:15Thanks Derek,
I am waiting for the transformers to arrive. Fortunately my dac is also 600 ohm. I will see if this can work without a resistor first.
I ordered a few transformers from cheap toabao stuff to vintage ones to test my "thinking". Hopefully this project can keep me occupied for a while.
BTW, I am still very impressed with your DIY pre. Nice stuff.
Cheers. - #186 [Derek2A3], 14-02-13 11:08Can you elaborate a bit? What do you mean by loading?
____________________________________________________________
Now, your transformer is marked 600ohm : 600ohm, simple way to apply the loading resistance is just solder a 600ohm across the input terminals of the trans. If you find soldering too complicated, crocodile clips can do as well. You probably don't need another 600ohm across the output as your passive pre is already 600ohm. Don't hesitate to call if I didn't make myself clear. - #185 [BenYC], 14-02-12 17:07One last thing, Ben. You can try loading the input & output of the trans with different resistors.

My connection will be as follows:
DAC xlr output 600ohm > transformer 600 ohm:600 ohm (doing xlr to rca conversion too) > 600ohm passive attenutator > 47k ohm preamp
(I know this linking is long and does not make sense....)
